Pfaffenthal is the valley north of Grund, spanned by the Passerelle (the red railway bridge) and the Grande-Duchesse Charlotte bridge. Stay here if you want to be at the foot of the free glass lift to Ville Haute and the free funicular to Kirchberg — a rare setup that lets you reach the old town, the business district and the train station without ever paying for transport. It suits budget travellers who still want views, and anyone with a Kirchberg meeting who also wants to see the historic centre.
It does not suit people who want restaurants and shops on the doorstep. Pfaffenthal is residential with only a couple of cafés.
