Weimerskirch is one of the oldest settled places in the Luxembourg City area — mentioned in 12th-century documents, with a village core around the Saints Peter and Paul church that still feels like a rural Luxembourgish village dropped inside the capital. The Alzette runs alongside, and the Grünewald forest edges the north side. Bus 14 connects it to Neudorf, Clausen and the center, but most visitors never make it out here.

There's essentially nothing 'to do' here in the tourist sense — you visit for the atmosphere, the church, and the walk along the Alzette. Combined with Neudorf and Clausen it makes a very good half-day valley itinerary. As a base to stay it's marginal: 20 minutes to the old town by bus, no restaurants of note, and dead silent after dark. Suits travelers who want a village-in-the-city experience and don’t need immediate access to anything.

One or two B&Bs, USD 90-130. Free parking, easy bus access, and one of the quietest neighborhoods in the city. Not a first-time-visitor pick, but a good option for a longer stay when you want a genuine rural-in-urban feel. All meals will require a trip elsewhere; plan accordingly.

Getting there

Bus 14 runs to Neudorf, Clausen and Ville Haute Hamilius every 15 minutes, free, about 20 minutes to Hamilius. Bus 23 also stops here. The Pfaffenthal-Kirchberg train station is about 15 minutes' walk if you’re heading north on the rail network. From Findel airport, tram T1 to Hamilius then bus 14, about 45 minutes total.

Is Weimerskirch worth a visit?

As a 45-minute detour on a longer Alzette valley walk, absolutely. As a standalone destination, probably not — there's very little to actually do here beyond soak in the atmosphere and see the church.

Are there restaurants in Weimerskirch?

Effectively no — perhaps a village café or two open at lunch. For dinner, take bus 14 down to Clausen or Ville Haute, or drive to Kirchberg.
