Neudorf runs along the Alzette valley floor between Clausen and Weimerskirch, a linear village of terraced houses squeezed between the river and the Kirchberg cliff. Historically a working-class quarter for the tanneries and small industries in the valley; today it's mostly residential, with a strong Portuguese and Cape Verdean community running the cafés and small businesses along rue de Neudorf. Bus 14 threads the length of the valley connecting everything.

It's a genuinely quiet corner of the city with almost no tourism. A couple of small B&B options exist but this isn’t really a stay-here district. Visit for a slow walk along the valley, a Portuguese lunch, and the view up to the Kirchberg European Court towers from an angle nobody photographs. Skip if you want any sort of central buzz or evening options — everything closes by 22:00 and the valley empties out completely.

Where to stay

Very limited — a couple of B&Bs on rue de Neudorf, USD 90-130. Bus 14 connects the valley to Ville Haute in about 15 minutes. Position anywhere along rue de Neudorf works; there's not much to differentiate blocks. The valley has good walking access to both Kirchberg (a steep climb) and Clausen (flat, 10 minutes) but you’ll rely on buses for most trips.

Getting there

Bus 14 runs the full length of the Alzette valley from Ville Haute through Clausen, Neudorf and Weimerskirch, every 15 minutes during the day, free. Bus 23 also serves parts of the route. No tram in the valley itself; the nearest tram stops are on the Kirchberg plateau (a steep climb) or in Ville Haute. From Findel airport, tram T1 to Hamilius then bus 14, about 40 minutes total.

Is Neudorf a good base for tourists?

Not really — it's residential, thin on hotels, and requires buses for almost everything. It's a lovely walk-through district for a slow afternoon but not a place to sleep unless price is the primary constraint.

Any decent restaurants in Neudorf for dinner?

A couple of Portuguese places do dinner but most close by 22:00. For anything ambitious, walk 10 minutes to Rives de Clausen or take bus 14 into the old town.
