Mondorf-les-Bains is a small spa town on the French border 25 minutes south of the capital, built around the thermal springs discovered in the 1840s. The Domaine Thermal complex is the reason to come — an actual functioning spa with warm mineral pools, saunas, treatments and a hotel, comparable to smaller German or Czech spa resorts. The associated park, casino (a modest one, no serious gambling) and Belle Époque architecture give the town a slightly time-warped, well-off retiree feel.

It's the closest thing Luxembourg has to a wellness destination. A day pass at the Domaine Thermal is USD 30-45, an overnight package with the on-site hotel runs USD 200+. The town itself outside the spa is small — the Casino, a few restaurants, the Gëllen Fra church, and the Mondorf Le Domaine park. Suits couples on a slow weekend, spa travelers, and anyone with joint or skin issues who wants proper thermal treatment. Skip if you want sightseeing — there's a full day's worth here at most.

Where to stay

Hotels around the Domaine Thermal and in the small town center, USD 90-190. The Domaine Thermal's own hotel is the most convenient (spa access included) but the pricier option. Independent hotels within 5 minutes' walk offer the same access at a lower rate. Weekend rates spike; midweek and winter are much better value.

Getting there

No train station in Mondorf. Bus 305 from Luxembourg Gare runs frequently, about 35 minutes, free. From Findel airport, tram T1 to Gare then bus 305, about 55 minutes total. Bus 175 connects Mondorf to Remich along the Moselle. Within Mondorf everything is walkable in 15 minutes.
