Grund sits in the Alzette valley 70 metres below Ville Haute, reached by the Pfaffenthal-Ville Haute lift or a walk down the Chemin de la Corniche. Stay here if you want to sleep by water, wake up under the cliffs of the Bock, and be a two-minute walk from Scott's Pub and the Neumünster Abbey cultural centre. It suits couples, photographers and anyone who has already ticked the main sights and wants atmosphere over convenience.
It does not suit anyone with mobility issues, heavy luggage, or an early flight — every departure involves a climb or the lift, which stops around 01:00.
What is within walking distance
Neumünster Abbey with its courtyard concerts, the Natural History Museum, the riverside walk to Clausen, and half a dozen restaurants and pubs. The Bock Casemates entrance on Montée de Clausen is 10 minutes uphill. Stromberg or the small guesthouses on Rue Münster are the realistic options; there are no chains and no parking. Expect around 190 EUR for a double, more on weekends when the abbey has events.

Is Grund noisy at night?
The pubs on Rue Münster get busy Thursday to Saturday until around 01:00. Rooms facing the river rather than the street are noticeably quieter.
