Dudelange is a former steel town on the southern border, home to the CNA (Centre National de l’Audiovisuel) with its photography exhibitions, the striking Waassertuerm converted water tower gallery, and F91 Dudelange football club. Stay here for cheap beds within a fast train ride of Luxembourg City, for the photography scene, or if you are visiting Metz across the French border — Dudelange is 30 minutes from Metz by car.
It does not suit first-time visitors to Luxembourg. Old-town sights are all in the capital, and evenings in Dudelange are quiet.
What is walkable
The Waassertuerm and CNA are the main draws, both within a 15-minute walk of the station. The town centre pedestrian streets, a couple of Italian and Portuguese restaurants, and the Parc Le’h with the Hutbierg trail up into the woods are all on foot. The train to Luxembourg City takes 20-25 minutes and runs every 30 minutes.
