Where to stay in Belair: the expensive residential option

Who it suits
Belair sits west of Ville Haute across the Pétrusse valley, all embassies, private schools and 1930s villas. Stay here if you are driving, want free or cheap street parking, and value a quiet residential setting over old-town buzz. Parc de Merl and Parc Central are on the doorstep, good for morning runs. It suits longer stays, families with cars, and business travellers visiting offices in Merl or Hollerich.
It does not suit anyone who wants to walk to sights. Belair is 25-30 minutes on foot to Place d’Armes and does not have the tram — you rely on frequent buses.
Getting around
Bus 12, 21 and 28 run into Hamilius every few minutes, taking 10-15 minutes. Belair has some of the best neighbourhood restaurants in the city — Km 5 on Avenue du X Septembre, the bistros around Place Léon XIV — with prices below the old town. The Parc de Merl is a rare fenced-off dog park, useful if you are travelling with a pet.
