1. Ville Haute — the walled old town. Walk everywhere, sleep among the sights, pay for it. Best if you’re here 2-3 nights and want zero transport friction. 2. Grund — the river-level village below the ramparts, cobbled and quiet at night, atmospheric but involves lifts or stairs to reach the upper town. Best for couples and photographers. 3. Gare — around the station, ugly-ish and busy but you’re a 12-minute walk or one tram stop from the old town and hotels are 30-40% cheaper. Best for value.
