Rives de Clausen bars at night
Rives de Clausen
The former Mousel brewery converted into a bar-and-restaurant strip. Ten venues packed into 200 metres — Le Melusina for lounge cocktails ($14), Ikki for Asian-fusion dining, Big Beer Company for German-style volume ($7 half-litres). Peak Thursday-Saturday nights, dead Sunday-Wednesday. Free bus 23 from the centre until 01:00, night bus CN1 after. Skip if you dislike student-heavy crowds.
Grund and Ville Haute
The Grund has quieter, cosier bars along Rue Munster and Bisserwee. Scott's Pub is the reliable expat spot with $7 pints and a river terrace. Konrad Café on Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes in the upper town is a coffee shop by day and cocktail bar (mixed drinks $13) by night. For late-night wine, try Vinoteca on Rue du Fossé where a glass of local crémant runs $9.
Hollerich clubbing
Serious clubbing happens in the Hollerich industrial quarter, 15 minutes from the centre by tram or taxi. De Gudde Wëllen hosts electronic nights ($14 cover). Rotondes runs mixed programming including live bands ($10-20 tickets). Weekend queues from 00:30, most places close 04:00. Free CN night bus back into the centre.
Where to skip
The bars immediately around Place d’Armes and Place Guillaume II are overpriced ($16 basic cocktails) and mostly tourist-focused. The eastern side of the station has cheap bars but the neighbourhood is uncomfortable after dark. Chic Kirchberg hotel bars are dull outside weekday business travel.
