Old money in the west
Belair is the leafy plateau west of Ville Haute, past Boulevard Grande-Duchesse Charlotte. It is where diplomats and long-term expats live, with the Parc Merl on one edge and detached houses lining Avenue Guillaume. There is no old-town atmosphere, no nightlife, and almost no tourism. Hotels are few and skew business-upmarket: Hotel Parc Belair is the anchor, plus a handful of aparthotels and short-term rentals in villas.
Rooms run $150-210, roughly Ville Haute prices without the location premium, which tells you what you are paying for: quiet, space and residential polish.
Who this actually fits
Belair suits longer stays, business visitors with clients in the western financial cluster, and families who want a park at the door. The Parc Merl and the adjacent Parc de Merl-Belair give kids somewhere to run for a week's stay.
It does not suit short leisure trips. You will spend $5-8 on tram rides that a Ville Haute guest wouldn’t need, and the neighbourhood has maybe a dozen restaurants total. Skip it if this is a first visit to Luxembourg.
