National Day
The Grand Duke's official birthday, 23 June, is the emotional peak of the Luxembourgish calendar. The evening of 22 June sees the torchlight parade through Ville Haute, fireworks from the Pont Adolphe around 22:30, and free concerts across the city that run past midnight. On 23 June itself there is a Te Deum at the cathedral and a military parade on Boulevard Royal. Hotels in Ville Haute and Grund fill by March; Kirchberg and the Gare hold out longer but still hit 200+ euros. If you can, book a room with a Pétrusse-facing window for the fireworks.

The Fête de la Musique fills the city with free stages on 21 June (Saturday in 2026). The Echternach Hopping Procession, a UNESCO-listed dancing pilgrimage, takes place on Whit Tuesday — 26 May in 2026, so actually late May, but its cultural weight belongs to early summer. Weather is reliably warm — 22 to 25 degrees, occasional thundery afternoons. Days are at maximum length: sunset near 21:55 around the solstice. Moselle boat trips add sunset cruises. School holidays start mid-July so June feels less crowded at family sites than August.
