1. Ville Haute. The old town on the plateau, walking distance to every major sight, most restaurants, and the tram. Pay a premium and don’t drive here. 2. Gare. The station district, cheaper hotels, better food value, five-minute tram to Ville Haute. Some blocks near the station itself are scruffier than the guidebooks let on — pick a hotel south or west of the main square. 3. Grund. Only two or three small hotels but the atmosphere is unmatched; you’ll walk uphill a lot and eat where prices are set for tourists.
